Summer Bridge
PVA Summer Bridge 2011 Information
All students enrolled and/or accepted to the Performing and Visual Arts Magnet Program are required to participate in a one-week summer bridge program for the summers following grade 5, grade 6, and grade 7. Several camps and programs are approved to serve as the students’ summer bridge requirement including the following.

AACPS PVA Summer Bridge Information
SUMMER MUSICAL- tentatively June 27-30, 2011 9:00 A.M-3: 30 P.M. Bates Middle School Four days of dancing, costume and set design: students will create sets and costumes for selected songs from familiar musicals for a culminating performance on the last day of the camp. (No cost)
IMAGINATION VACATION: ARTS INTEGRATION- July 25-28, 2011 9:00 A.M-3:30 P.M. Bates Middle School Four days of art, dance, music and drama: students will work with working artists and teachers through various art forms in a multicultural theme. Selected performances and artworks will be showcased on the last day of the camp. (No cost)

Tra-Digital Photography: A Introduction to Basic Digital and Traditional Photographic Techniques- July 25-29, 2011 8:30am – 4:30pm Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts Students will be introduced to the use of the Single Lens Reflex film camera; as well as, darkroom and digital editing and printing techniques; they will compare and contrast traditional photography with the digital photographic technology used today. A week-long arts immersion program where talented young artists experience art as a “life tool” by creating, collaborating and communicating with other like minded youth. This program is facilitated and mentored by some of the best artists and teachers in the area. Participants receive breakfast and lunch each day. Moreover, they are exposed to a variety of art forms – drama, dance, drumming, painting and more! This program is reserved for students and families who cannot afford a program such as this.
Global Languages Summer Camp- July 11-21, 2011 8:30 am to 3:30pm Meade Middle School Language Learning – select from one of the following camps: Chinese, French, Spanish for new campers, Spanish for returning campers $300.00 for the entire program. A deposit of $100.00 is due by May 15, 2011.
